It seems that a restyled Audi A7 is on the cards and it just cannot escape from our ever vigilant cameras. After being launched in the fall of 2010, the Audi A7 has already received multiple upgrades over the past years, but now the company has decided to develop the second generation Audi A7.

The spy shots reveal a much wider body and we speculate an enhanced power package. According to Marc Lichte who is at the helm of new Audi design, we should expect augmented differentiation between the second generation Audi A7 and the future A6. We expect changes in the exterior lighting as well as a new single frame grille design along with some new body lines. The A7 will be underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s MLB Evo platform enabling the ride to lose significant amount of weight while providing options for multiple powertrains as well. Some reports suggest drivetrains similar to the ones in the forthcoming A8 will be featured in the second generation Audi A7.

The basic specifications will be a turbocharged inline 4 engine providing a power of 252 horses and 272 pound feet of torque. Down the road, we are expecting more gasoline and diesel engines along with a plug in hybrid and battery electric option. Moreover, company insiders have also suggested a fuel cell powered Audi A7. Additionally, the sportier and stylish RS7 and S7 trims will be making a much awaited comeback.

The Audi A7 has already been updated for 2017, so the second generation is expected in 2019. Until then, we will definitely zooming in our lenses for further updates.
