There is a sense of Déjà vu in the company about the Maserati MC12 that was initially launched in 2004 as a special edition model. The long serving Maserati boss, Harald Wester said that we may not be too far away from seeing a limited edition once again. The original model got its inspiration from Ferrari Enzo, so it will be interesting to see the new model.
With that said, Harald Wester refused to give any specific timeline for the return. It is pertinent to note that although the Maserati MC12 was developed by Ferrari for the automaker, the company has proven expertise for building hyper cars including the famous Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione as well as the current Alfa Romeo 4C. Speculations suggest that the new limited edition might be made in the Maserati manufacturing plant under the brand’s own name.
However, the company is currently occupied by multiple ongoing projects such as the new Levante as well as two door coupes like Alfieri concept and the Gran Turismo successor. Other pressing issues include the replacement of current Ghibli and Quattroporte.
Although we are delighted by the news, it remains to be seen whether the Modenese automobile manufacturer follows up its plan to eventual execution.
