We will soon be having a new kid on the block as Mercedes AMG has plans to compete with the already established players like Bugatti, McLaren, Porsche, and Ferrari in the hyper car market. The German automaker is overtly developing Mercedes AMG Megacar (it’s just an analogy, not the original name), the most powerful and fastest model ever with rumours suggesting a debut soon.

Dubbed as R50, the Mercedes AMG Megacar will be launched as a part of next year’s 50th anniversary celebrations of Mercedes AMG. The model will be powered by a turbocharged 2.0 litre engine assisted by two electric motors mounted over the front axle. Each motor will be capable of producing 150 horsepower driving front wheels for short distances indigenously. The coupe will be weighing around 2,900 pounds churning out a power of 1,300 horses.

According to a German publication Autobild, the styling for the mega car is inspired by CLK GTR with a brand new huge carbon fibre rear spoiler augmenting the aerodynamic performance. The huge power pack of the ride will be made more effective through an adaptive suspension and a sophisticated four-wheel steering system.

The starting price of this limited edition model will be between $2.2 million and $3.3 million. I would love to see R50 compete on the race track with the likes of Bugatti Chiron and similar cars from Lamborghini and Ferrari.
