We have bad news for roadster fans, as Bugatti has recently announced that it will not be offering an open top version of its forthcoming 1,500 hp Chiron. The denial of Chiron roadster has come as a surprise to many, considering, the convertible version of Chiron’s predecessor, Veyron, was an instant hit with spectators and car fans.

However, Bugatti confirms it will manufacture different versions of the upcoming Chiron without going into the specifics. No reason for the roadster’s discontinuity was provided by company’s sales and marketing division head, Stefan Brungs.

Bugatti had offered Veyron in the top less Grand Sports and Grand Sports Vitesse versions. Interestingly, about one third of the 450 Veyrons sold over the span of the last ten years were the convertible ones. Automotive manufacturers like Ferrari will now be having one less competitor for their LaFerrari Spider.

Bugatti has plans for retaining the world’s fastest production car crown through the new Chiron, which will be powered by a quad turbo charged 8.5 litre W16 engine. The Chiron is reported to be hitting the showrooms soon with a starting price tag of $2.6 million.

There will only be a handful of 500 lucky owners who will manage to get the new Chiron and that too with no view of the blue sky above them. We will definitely miss Chiron roadster.
