Honda has decided to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the blockbuster Sega video game and its renowned video game character ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ in a befitting manner. The Japanese automaker will be customising its top selling brand in the US to create an unprecedented Sonic Civic.
The celebratory vehicle will be based on Honda’s turbocharged 2016 touring sedan. Honda will be unveiling the vehicle at the House of Blues in San Diego where Comic Con, a sold out commemorative event to felicitate the 25th anniversary of ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ is being held by Sega games.
York, Pennsylvania based Fox Marketing Cars has commanded the design and customisation of the new Sonic Civic. The fundamental theme of the entire ride is obviously based on the virtual gaming character Sonic and its environment.
Sonic’s notorious red shoes and golden rings will be depicted by the car’s customised tyres and wheels. The interior will be featuring specially designed Katzkin Blue Leather seats embroidered by the ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ 25th anniversary logo. The ride will also be equipped with an audio-visual system by Rockford Fosgate having two 500-watt T1S2 10-inch subwoofers and two 500-watt TM400 400-watt amplifiers. A 32” floor mounted TV to play the legendary video game will also be there for the fans. The exterior design and bespoke paint scheme will also get inspiration from Sega game’s main character.
Honda visualises rubbing off on the viral recognition of the world famous video game to showcase the performance capabilities of its 10th generation Civic. We will see if the ride can match the massive acceptance of the video game.
