It can be easily termed as one of the most expensive road car crashes in the human history. The $6 million Koenigsegg One:1 was being tested at the Nurburgring racing and testing facility in Germany when the accident happened during the attempt of a new lap record at the circuit.

The driver hit hard into the barrier after losing control and ended up on the other side of the fence in to a grass verge. Both front as well rear ends of the car were badly damaged in the occurrence. The tyre marks reveal that the vehicle skidded through a considerable distance before getting crashed. The driver was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance as a precaution and was released later in the afternoon. Fire damage was also visible on the car.

The Swedish car manufacturer confirmed the incident and assured that the car will be rebuilt in due course. The company also expressed satisfaction over the working of the safety systems in the car ensuring protection of the driver.

Koenigsegg One:1 is powered by a 5.0 litre engine capable of producing a staggering 1,341 horsepower and can reach from 0 to 62 mph in less than 3 seconds. I am all for declaring the Koenigsegg One: 1endangered species, as there are only six of them left on the entire planet.
