Tesla domain name gets shortened from “teslamotors” to “tesla”. The move has led to further speculation regarding the “secret” master plan of their dynamic CEO, Elon Musk.
Web users are now automatically directed to tesla.com using the old domain name. According to Internet Accreditation Company ICANN, the update took place on July 18. The company has yet to reveal if the Tesla domain name change signifies a possible company name change or any other strategic development.
Apart from electric vehicles, Tesla also manufactures stationary storage batteries for homes and businesses. Tesla’s other sub divisions are now being consolidated within the same domain name. For example, Teslaenergy.com is now tesla.com/energy.
Elon Musk is also considering a merger between Tesla and SolarCity Corp, having majority shares in the solar panel supplier company. Earlier in June, Elon Musk expressed that the merger would make it possible for Tesla to become a “trillion-dollar” company in market value.
