Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has imposed new tests for export cars in Dubai. A full range of technical tests will be conducted for cars bearing export plates to ensure they are safe for the roads.

This is the first time export vehicles will be completely tested for road safety, as previous regulations did not require comprehensive technical tests. According to Mr. Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, the initiative aims to avoid potential accidents by export cars in their country of desitation. The tests will determine if they are safe for the roads.

The RTA licensing agency already has a sophisticated Central Inspection System (CIS) in place. The CIS is capable of allowing access to all technical reports of vehicles through a unified electronic system. It also has a feature for curbing technical violations and can help to establish standardized technical testing to different types of vehicles.
