BMW has earmarked 2021 for the launch of its self driving cars. The state of the art fully automated driving technology will be developed by the giant German automaker in collaboration with Mobileye and Intel. The three companies will team up to finalize necessary innovations and advanced technological solutions for this purpose.
BMW is fully aware of the fact that the route to developing fully autonomous car technology will require comprehensive SMART solutions based on artificial intelligence that should be integrated across vast areas. The company foresees the launch of its “INEXT” model as a significant milestone in the evolution of its autonomous driving technology.
This model will form the basis for the next stage development of fully autonomous self driving vehicles that can be relied upon on the highways as well as in the urban environments to provide state of the art commuting solutions for the motorists.
The three companies share the vision that user friendliness and safety features of the fully automated self driving vehicles will be more advanced. The dream of creating a vehicle with no human inside still remains a possibility for these companies. Before that, the companies are aiming for an ‘eyes off’ stage, which will subsequently lead to a ‘mind off’ stage providing motorists an unprecedented work or leisure experience in the automated vehicles.
The companies will also direct their efforts for the establishment of an industrial standard which can regulate the self driving car technology for its rapid development and far reaching benefits.
