The Volkswagen Group is still recovering from the diesel emission scandal of last year. It’s not like the CEOs are sitting idle, the automaker is coming up with new strategies to improve its position in the market and gain back the lost reputation.
The Volkswagen Group has announced a strategy titled as ‘Strategy 2025,’ which aims to introduce 30 new electric cars within the next decade. As new electric vehicles will be added, the automaker will have to drop some of the current gasoline and diesel vehicles from its lineup.
The CEO Matthias Müller previously stated that in order to maximise profits, the company will make some cuts, but he didn’t specify where those cuts would be made. But now through Handelsbatt we know that the Volkswagen Group plans to discontinue 40 models over the next few years and one of them could be the Volkswagen Beetle.
The automaker has already discontinued the Phaeton. Its electric successor is scheduled to arrive by the end of the decade.
