The 2017 Acura NSX has won the first position in the Time Attack 2 class at the 2016 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.
Considering the fact that the all new Acura NSX was making its debut at a North American racing event, the victory seems impressive as well as astonishing. The required safety equipment was added to the car by the Japanese automaker before participating in the race and finishing at the front. The winning time recorded was 10:28.820.
Currently, serving as a North American R&D team member, Nick Johnson was the victorious driver. Nick Johnson is also the engineer responsible for supervising NSX’s dynamic performance.
The 2016 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb also witnessed two other Acura vehicles competing in the event. In the Electric Modified class, the Acura EV concept finished second. Tetsuya Yamano was at the wheels with the finishing time of 9:06.015. The car was also acknowledged as the third fastest overall clocking a speed of 79.119 mph. The third car was a modified 2017 Acura NSX, driven by James Robinson who also happens to be Nick Johnson’s brother.
The Acura Division’s vice president and general manager, Jon Ikeda was elated with the performance. He believes that this accomplishment will serve as a cornerstone of future racing glory for the company.
