That aggressive green sports car you see in the picture above has been titled as the ‘most track-focused GTR sports car’ by Mercedes, and there is absolutely no doubt about that fact.
Unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, the new Mercedes-AMG GT R packs a V8 biturbo engine with an enhanced exhaust system and upgraded turbocharged. It produces 577 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque, which makes it more powerful than the current AMG GT S that generates 503 horsepower.
It is also comparatively lighter than the GT S with a total weight of 1,630 kgs for improved aerodynamics. The Mercedes-AMG GT R is capable of going from 0-62mph (0 to 100 km/h) in just 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 198 mph (318.65 km/h). It also benefits from a new advanced suspension system and a traction control system taken from the AMG GT3 race car for a blistering performance.
Besides the phenomenal powertrain upgrades, the Mercedes-AMG GT R also offers some impressive exterior enhancements such as, an exclusive AMG Panamericana grille, forged aluminium wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres and AMG Performance seats on the inside.
It will arrive by mid-2017 and the pricing details will be revealed soon.
