In the latest episode of the scandal that rocked the automobile industry, Volkswagen Emissions Claims will reportedly exceed $10 billion in payouts to diesel car owners. The payment will be in addition to providing technical solutions to fix the affected vehicles.
The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) has approved technical solutions for around 1.1 million VW Group Vehicles including VW passenger cars, VW commercial vehicles and Audi brands. Tiguan and Caddy with the EA 189 2.0 litre TDI engines are next in line with owners being informed in stages. The 2.5 million affected vehicles have been given the go-ahead for technical solution since the start of this year.
The implementation of the Volkswagen emissions claims is being carried out in coordination with the EU and the exact process depends on the official requirements in each individual county. KBA has confirmed that there is no change to the fuel consumption levels, performance figures, or noise emissions post the software update.
The owners of the affected vehicles will not have to undergo any additional costs and are also being offered replacement transport while their vehicles are being fixed.
Moreover, the affected vehicles are safe to drive between now and their modification and can be used on the roads without any restrictions.
