Two Toyota Camry Hybrids have been provided to the Emirates Driving Institute (EDI) for use in Roll Car Simulations by Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributors of Toyota in the UAE.

EDI is one of the oldest and largest driver training institutes in Dubai and will be using the Toyota Camry Hybrids to demonstrate the advantages of using seatbelts if involved in a rollover collision. The simulation is part of a program started by EDI in 2007 to instruct motorists on road safety through the use of experience-based learning. The simulators run on real-life vehicles that have been refurbished for this purpose.

The roll call simulations involve the driver going through a 360 degree roll, while held in place with a seatbelt, thereby demonstrating how the seatbelt prevents passengers from being thrown out of the vehicle during a rollover collision.

The simulators are located at the EDI training institute and are also taken around public events (including school and college exhibitions) to spread awareness about road safety. The program is effective in engaging participants and educating them on the responsibilities of both drivers and passengers in contributing to road safety.
