To mark the 30th anniversary of automaker’s use of carbon fiber reinforced polymer in the luxury vehicles, a new Lamborghini Carbon Fiber Research facility called ‘Advanced Composite Structures Laboratory (ACSL)’ has been setup in Seattle, Washington.
This new facility will be used to carry out the research and development work on Carbon Fiber material that will be employed in future Lamborghini vehicles. The reason to choose Seattle is the fact that the Italian automaker has recently joined hands with Boeing aerospace company based in Seattle where both the firms will work together in innovating new carbon fiber ideas.
The Lamborghini Carbon Fiber Research Facility (ACSL) has ultra-modern equipment and technologies. But that’s not the most interesting thing about this facility; the carbon fiber products here are tested through an artificial lightning strike. Since Boeing is an airplane manufacturer, such a test was necessary to ensure the aircraft’s body could withstand a lightning strike.
The work on Forged composite material is in process at the ACSL facility. The material would be used in the new Lamborghini Urus SUV and also on the future Huracan and Aventador models.
