The 2017 Subaru BRZ has received some splendid exterior updates, convenience features and powertrain enhancements. The front fascia incorporates a newly designed bumper that is much wider and positioned lower to improve aerodynamics. Other updates on the front include LED headlamps, DRLs and optional LED fog lamps. Towards the back, the 2017 Subaru BRZ receives an aluminium spoiler and LED tail lamps.
The interior of the sports car boasts new technologies including a 4.2-inch LCD display and an upgraded steering wheel which now encompasses mounted audio control.
To improve the BRZ’s performance, the automaker has upgraded the coil springs and dampers, installed a new rear stabilizer bar and enhanced the chassis rigidity. The stability control system has been tweaked too for superior handling, thus the previous ‘Sport’ mode is now renamed to ‘Track’ mode.
The powertrain remains the same i.e. 2.0-litre Boxer engine, but it has been modified to offer 205 hp and 156 lb-ft torque (a 5 hp increase from the previous model). Moreover, the final gear ratio has been lowered from 4.1 to 4.3:1, which will drastically improve the BRZ’s acceleration.
The 2017 Subaru BRZ coupe will arrive at the dealerships in September.
