You must have heard about the 1,000 hp Koenigsegg Agera, but do you know about 400 hp Koenigsegg 4-cylinder engine, which the Swedish automaker is working on?
Koenigsegg’s sister company Freevalve, joined hands with the Chinese automotive manufacturing firm, Qoros Autos last month and introduced the Qoros “Qamfree” engine at the Beijing Motor Show. This prototype engine is designed to be lighter, compact, powerful and offer an improved fuel efficiency, thanks to the FreeValve’s PHEA technology. The unique thing about the PHEA technology is that it allows the engine to control each of its valves individually and manage their opening and closing position effectively.
Talking to Carbuzz, the automaker revealed that Koenigsegg 4-cylinder engine is going to be 1.6L that will pump out up to 400 horsepower, which is equal to what a standard V8 engine delivers.
Currently, the engine only exists in concept form and Koenigsegg has not announced any concrete plans to use in a production vehicle.
