Almost every supercar maker is focused on beating the Nürburgring Lap Record in order to gain an edge over its competitors. Last year in March, a deadly accident took place at the Nürburgring track due to which certain regulations were imposed and the automakers were barred from setting new records.
However, now that the limits have been lifted, the Swedish automaker, Koenigsegg has again dedicated itself on setting a new Nürburgring Lap Record. The automaker’s Koenigsegg One:1 was recently spotted on the Nordschleife track trying to break the current record time of 6:57 set by Porsche 918 Spyder in 2013. Keep in mind that the Porsche 918 Spyder’s powertrain produced around 800 horsepower, while the latest Koenigsegg One:1 is capable of generating over 1,300 horsepower.
In the past, many automakers including Lamborghini and Nissan have tried their best to set a record but did not manage to complete the lap in less than 7 minutes. We would have to wait and see if the One:1’s impressive powertrain can do it or not.
