The King of EVs is readying its 200-mile range EV, the 2017 Chevy Bolt which will hit the roads in the fall of 2016. Would it be able to beat the Tesla Model 3, which got 180000 pre-orders on the first day? Well, to answer this we have to go through some facts.
According to analyst Karl Brauer from Kelley Blue Book, Chevrolet might be able to sell around 30K to 80K EVs in the first year. If we compare it to Tesla’s preorders, which hit 32,5000 figure, this is way too low. With that said, the Tesla Model 3 won’t be reaching to dealerships until late 2017 – a gap of 1 year if we compare to new Chevy Bolt. Considering Tesla’s history of delays, customers might have to wait even longer to get their hands on the mass-produced Model 3. This gives the 2017 Chevy Bolt a big advantage along with the ability to be bought through a wide network of GM.
With this advantage, chances are that the new Chevy Bolt might be sold in higher numbers than expected. Let’s wait and see who wins the EV race?
