A Dubai con artist riding in a white Rolls-Royce scams car owners wanting to sell their vehicles by presenting a dud check. The man is accompanied with his friend – both dressed as an Arab in Kandouras – has struck a number of car owners, recently including a Pakistani Expat, who was tricked into selling his 2013 BMW-6 series for Dh 185,000. The victim shared that he trusted the fraudster for his “flashy appearance” with Rolls-Royce as his main point of credibility.
The expat reported the scam to the police after realising the next morning that he had been fooled. The bank told him that the account had been closed and a series of calls at the given number went answered.
A similar incident also took place last year in September with an Indian expat, who sold her 2015 Nissan SUV for $63,000 to the con artist in white Rolls-Royce, and didn’t suspect anything owing to his extravagant look.
