The new range-topping Hyundai Elantra Sport is going to debut this year at the SEMA Auto Show and will compete with the likes of next-gen Honda Civic SI.
The Hyundai Elantra Sport carries a turbocharged 1.6-litre 4-cylinder engine that is capable of pumping out 201 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in just 8 seconds. The engine is paired with a 6 speed manual gearbox; though a 7 speed dual clutch transmission is also available. These performance ratings are for the Elantra Sport that will be launched in the automaker’s home country, Korea. So, we can expect the same numbers for other markets too.
Currently, the Hyundai Elantra UAE is equipped with a 2.0L powertrain that produces only 163 horsepower. With the arrival of the new Hyundai Elantra Sport, even the Volkswagen Jetta GTI that generates 201 horsepower will consider upgrading its performance rating.
