Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has increased its Taxi fleet by purchasing 1487 Toyota and Lexus vehicles from Al-Futtaim Motors, exclusive distributor of Toyota and Lexus in the UAE. Costing Dhs120m, the vehicles include Camry, Innova and Hiace from Toyota and ES from Lexus.
The news was shared during the Mena Transport Congress and Exhibition 2016, at the Dubai World Trade Centre by Dr Yousaf Al Ali, CEO of Dubai Taxi Corporation. Abdulmohsin Younes, CEO Rail Agency and the Senior Managing Director of Al-Futtaim Motors, and Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, Member executive board of directors RTA signed the contract to make it official. The agreement also states regular maintenance and support to Dubai Taxi Corporation by Al-Futtaim.
About 5,000 vehicles are currently working around the clock in the city, constituting Toyota vehicles mostly. Dr. Yousaf Al Ali also shared that the addition of 246 Toyota Camry hybrids will not only reduce carbon emission, but will also contribute towards the green environment in the city.
