A Dubai nursery has started a free advisory programme to educate parents about car-seat safety to encourage them into using child seats. Hosted by Chantal Ariens, Director of Business development at the Blossom Nursery, the workshop is part of safety week, offering installation tips on child seats.
The child safety matter has been under discussion for the last 8 years among the higher authorities; however, no federal law has been passed by the Government yet.
Chantal Ariens shared that while many parents are using car seats for kids, there are some who ignore it when travelling with family, exposing them to a lot of road risks. According to professionals, the legislation will help in reducing UAE’s fatality rate to 3 out of 100,000, as envisioned by the Government for 2021.
Thomas Edelman, founder of Road Safety UAE has encouraged the step taken by the nursery. He also said that the increased usage of the car seats would decrease road accidents deaths by 70% for babies and 54% to 80% for young kids.
Researchers have found that children are not safe in their mother’s lap. Moreover, many parents already using child seats do not use them correctly. The car-seat safety workshop will certainly go a long way in creating awareness regarding the correct usage of the car seats by countering their wrong beliefs while making roads a safer place for their little ones.
