Motorists in the UAE will not have to search for a parking space in the near future, as a new technology will enable cars to identify empty parking slots on their own, as announced by Robert Bosch. Using an open service community-based platform, the service will record data of the parking spots to translate it into a shared digital parking map through a navigation system.

Dr. Dirk Hoheisel, Robert Bosch GmbH’s member of the management board shared that the ultrasonic sensors present in about one third of all new vehicle’s parking assistance systems, are programmed by Bosch to find the Kerbside empty parking slots.

The service will be made available to the motorists in 2018 and will play a critical role in saving a motorist’s time in finding a parking spot, while also reducing the environmental impact on the cities. Even the cars driving at a speed of 50 km/h will be able to highlight the kerbside parked spaces as they drive past it.

This technology will certainly shape up the driving arena for the UAE motorists.
