Dubai Police are on a roll to end traffic offences, and this time, they have introduced smart bikes for catching the bad guys. Exhibited at Dubai police stand during the Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition on 11th April, 2016 (Monday) these smart bikes are the first ever in the UAE and the Gulf.
One bike is already tested successful by Dubai Police, who are further planning to launch 10 of these smart bikes. Each super bike is equipped with a total of 4 cameras, 2 front cameras and 2 back cameras, giving them an ability to scan vehicle number plates up to three lanes each in front and in back.
The images of the number plates will be saved by a smart screen in the middle of the handle bar, while another screen will save vehicle numbers for transmitting to the control room. Then, the vehicle in question would be checked against fines and ‘expired insurance’ to send a notification to the riding officer to press charges on the vehicle.
The entire checking and processing will only consume a few seconds to help cops capture the offenders, as confirmed by Serg, Ashrag AboBaker Abdullah of the Dubai Police. However, the smart bike cameras will not be able to monitor speeding violations.
Dubai police department already has cars equipped with similar technology for patrolling in the emirates.
