Continental, the premium tire manufacturer and international automotive supplier, has once again joined forces with luxury car brand Mercedes-AMG to further promote the power of German engineering. Over 160 Middle Eastern delegates, VIP customers and media attended the four-day event at Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi, which saw key models take to the track in a rally car format.
Attendees took to the globally renowned Formula One track to test drive 11 Mercedes-AMG models featuring the ContiSportContact. These super sport tires enable increased drivability thanks to their impeccable grip and superior handling during the slalom testing. Designed for sports and high-performance vehicles, Continental’s super sport tire complemented the selection of AMG models including the high-powered GT S, the aggressive CLA 45, G63 and a selection of V8 super-charged SUVs including the GLE coupe.
Commenting on Continental’s participation in the event, Nikos Kontos, Continental Head of Marketing in the Middle East, said: “We have partnered with Mercedes-AMG since 2010 in order to give our customers a chance to experience best-in-class German engineering first-hand. In events such as these we reaffirm our position not only as a global leader in premium tire manufacturing, but also as an innovator and technological pioneer for a variety of automotive components including ECUs, Brake Systems, Sensors and Fuel Pumps – all of which can be found in AMG models.”
Looking to the future, Kontos added: “We will focus further on accelerating our partnership with Mercedes-AMG, as both brands look to continue to develop cutting edge technologies which maximise performance.”
Continental and Mercedes first joined together when they opened the AMG Driving Academy which offers fans of both brands a chance to drive Mercedes models on the country’s top racing tracks. Through rigorous testing the partnership further developed as the ContiSportContact was used on several AMG models which led to a series of drive events across the globe.
The ContiSportContact range, suitable both for Sport as well as SUV vehicles, is now available across the Middle East.
