Although the new hydrogen fuel cell powered cars being made by Toyota are totally CO2 emission free, but fingers have been raised on the automaker about the way how hydrogen is made for these vehicles is not clean and eco-friendly. To silence all the critics, Toyota Motor Corp along with other companies such as Kawasaki, Iwatani Corp, Toshiba and the prefectural Kanagawa government, decided to invest in a new wind power hydrogen project for a totally clean hydrogen supply chain that will reduce emissions by 80 percent.
It involves powering hydrogen fuel cell forklifts at four different factories. The hydrogen required will be supplied from the Wind-power plant Hama Wing located in Tokyo.
The wind power hydrogen for fuel cells will be a safer and cleaner option as it will greatly reduce the emission. Plus, it will provide new ideas to the automaker on how to safely transport and store hydrogen.
Two of the newly developed hydrogen powered forklifts will be launched this fall while the rest will be introduced next year.
