The BMW i8 is powered by a 3-cylinder turbocharged engine coupled with an electric drive system. The power output is 363 hp and combined CO2 emissions are 49 g/km which contributed to the sports car winning both World Green Car of the Year and Green Luxury Car Awards, last year.

The BMW i8 Protonic Red Edition will be manufactured at the BMW plant in Leipzig from July this year, and is the first of a series of special editions planned for the BMW i8. The exterior is Protonic Red with Frozen Grey metallic accents, a combination which is further complemented by BMW W-spoke 470 light-alloy wheels in Orbit Grey metallic. The interior features red double-stitching, carbon fibre applications and touches of ceramic.
