The McLaren Sports Series has entered the Middle Eastern Market – a move which has surprised many given the uncertain conditions in the global automotive market. Luxury brands like Rolls-Royce, Bentley and Ferrari saw dwindling sales in China last year which is experiencing its worse slump in 25 years.
The first baby of the McLaren Sports Series, the 570S Coupe made its debut last year. Pricing starts at Dh750,000 and McLaren fans are lining up to place deposits. The 570S is part of McLarens strategy to move into (relatively) lower market segments and will compete with the likes of Audi R8, Porsche 911 Turbo and Aston Martin Vantage S.
The McLaren 570S has a dramatic, futuristic design and a distinct resemblance to the McLaren Formula 1 race cars. Powered by a 3.8 litre twin turbo V8, the performance lives up to the McLaren brand offering a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.2 seconds. The interior features hand crafted leather, a Bowers & Wilkins stereo system, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system and other connectivity options.
The McLaren 540C will follow shortly.
