Motorists around Dubai have been notified of diversions and road closures as Dubai Tour 2016 kicked off on Feb 3, 2016, yesterday. Roads and Transport Authority has strongly urged everyone to use Sheikh Zayed Road between 11.50 am to 12.50pm to avoid any traffic troubles. Roads of the Palm Jumeirah and Jumeirah Islands communities will remain closed from Wednesday (Feb 3) to Saturday (Feb 6).
Participants of Dubai Tour 2016 will cover a total of 671 kms in 4 stages. The event features 128 competitors from world over including well-renowned names like Sir Bradley Wiggins, Mark Cavendish and Marcel Kittel. Dubai Police will escort the cyclists, to ensure a safe and smooth cycling event.
The route for the Dubai Tour 2016 is as follow:
Day 1: Dubai International Marine Club to Fujairah, covering 179km
Day 2: Dubai International Marine Club to Palm Jumeirah, 188km
Day 3: Dubai International Marine Club to Hatta Dam, covering 172km
Day 4: Dubai International Marine Club to Business Bay, covering 137km
The event will be aired live on TV channels worldwide and is organised by the Dubai Sports Council in connection with RCS Sports and Events DMCC.
