Rumours have been rife about the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew variant ever since Ford’s second generation truck made its debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. As we are seeing it standing at Ford’s booth, we can safely say that the new variant delivers on the expectation of off-roading enthusiasts.

The Ford F-150 Raptor SuperCrew variant has a wider wheelbase (145 inch) which will give more maneuverability to the monster truck for high-speed stunts off the road. It comes with a choice of two drivetrains (FWD and AWD) to offset the wheelspin caused by the weight loss in the new design (the new model is about 500 pounds lighter than the first generation).

In a surprising turn of events, Ford replaced the V8 of the outgoing model with a V6. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Supercrew boasts an EcoBoost 3.5 litre twin-turbo V6 with direct fuel injection. Ford claims that the improved V6 (inspired from racecar engines) will exceed the performance of the outgoing V8 thanks to performance enhancements like a new aluminium block, improved fuel system and cylinder heads. Airflow is improved with the addition of a dual-exhausted system.
