Amongst the many revelations at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show was Volvo’s announcement of the Semi-Autonomous pilot assist for the S90. The advanced version of Pilot Assist System will be a standard feature on all S90s in the US.
Volvo first introduced the Pilot Assist in the XC90, featuring the ability for the vehicle to accelerate, decelerate and halt under relatively safe road conditions with clearly defined lane markings. One of the differences between this and the advanced version of the Semi-Autonomous pilot assist for the S90 is the ability of the car to carry out all the above mentioned functions at the speed of 80 mph, while it was just 30 mph with the XC90.
The Volvo S90 will be debuting at the 2016 North American International Auto Show and will be hitting the showrooms later in the year.
Earlier this month, the Volvo XC90 won the 2016 Best Auto Tech Award by Kelley Blue Book for the Sensus infotainment system – a 9 inch infrared display system with the operational feel of a smartphone.
