The 2016 starts off with a major a major update in Ford Sync 3 system. The 2017 Ford cars with Sync 3 technology will have access to Apple Carplay and Android Auto. This will allow your smartphone to control the car’s central display to enable features such as voice-based messaging, Spotify music streaming and vehicle navigation. These features will help both the Apple and Android users to drive safely while being connected to their favorite apps on the move. The 2017 Ford Escape will be the first car to receive the latest Sync 3 system.
In addition, Ford is also implementing a few updates to its AppLink platform. Developed by the Michigan-based carmaker, AppLink works similar to CarPlay, allowing mobile apps to connect with the car. The latest updates will allow AppLink to offer information such as waypoints to the nearby gas stations and fuel prices. Even though, a few existing apps already offer this type of information, Ford wants to add these options to the GUI of its cars.
Moreover, the new Ford Sync Connect system powered by 4G LTE will allow owners to start their cars, lock and unlock doors, check fuel levels and to locate the parked car remotely using the paired apps.
