The American automaker Ford has announced that they would bring Ford F-150 hybrid version on the roads of US by 2020. The announcement was made by Ford CEO Mark Fields in an interview on NPR.

Fields admitted that their hybrid’ sales haven’t been very good, but they are committed to make the world a better place by developing green vehicles. This is the reason Ford is investing more than 4 billion dollars into electrified vehicle solutions and may join the ride-hailing industry bandwagon. Ford also confirmed that they will be unveiling Ford F-150 hybrid in the rear wheel drivetrain by 2020.

This is not the first time Ford revealed plans of a rear wheel hybrid truck; in 2014, Ford’s global product development chief Raj Nair confirmed the same in addition to the introduction of hybrid SUVs. In the past, Ford collaborated with Toyota to work on hybrid technology but for some reason the partnership ended in 2013. However, Ford did receive benefits out of this coordination, but we can’t say anything for sure until we see a production model on the roads.
