The finalists for the most anticipated annual North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards have been announced and the list includes most of the vehicles from Japanese automakers. For the car of the year award, the finalists are: Mazda MX-5 Miata, Honda Civic and Chevrolet Malibu, while the Truck/Utility finalists are: Honda Pilot, Nissan Titan XD, and Volvo XC90.

These vehicles are shortlisted from a total of 49 eligible automobiles. A jury of 56 automotive experts was chosen from various online forums across United States and Canada to vote for the finalists. These finalists included those who earned the highest points in the voting sessions.

The final voting session for the 23rd annual North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards will take place on 4th January and the winners will be announced at the Detroit Auto Show on January 11th.
