The new Lamborghini Urus SUV will be joining the ranks with a twin turbocharged V8 engine. The Urus was first introduced as a concept car at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show. The production model is expected to be ready for delivery by 2018 and will Lamborghini’s first 4×4 after the LM002.

Lamborghini opted for a twin turbo 8 cylinder 4.0 L engine over the V10/V12 options used in the Huracane and the Aventador. The V8 is good in terms of CO2 emissions and will improve low end torque, essential to power 4×4 Lamborghini SUV. A hybrid plug-in variant is also in the offing and will be launched after the V8.

Special editions have yet to be announced but CEO Stephan Wikelmann revealed in an interview with AutoCar that the company is considering a hardcore Superveloce model and a more high-end luxury model for the Lamborghini Urus.

The Lamborghini Urus will likely be priced at the same level as Aventador – starting at $404,000.
