The all new 2017 Lincoln MKZ made its first public appearance at the 2015 LA Auto Show – with a brand new look and extra power punch. The new rectangular grille, seen earlier this year on the Lincoln Continental Concept, suggests that the entire Lincoln fleet will be remodeled with the new looks to separate the brand from the shadow of Ford.
The latest 2017 Lincoln MKZ all wheel-drive models will feature the Lincoln-exclusive twin-turbocharged 3.0 litre GTDI V-6 engine for an astounding 400 hp and 400 pound-feet of torque. Engine output will be around 350 hp in the front-wheel drive models. Other variants include a 245 hp 2.0 litre turbo 4-cylinder and a hybrid. The interior has been revamped with more robust buttons replacing touch-sensitive controls and driver-assist technology includes a pedestrian-detection system, radar cruise control, self-parking and lane-keeping assist.
The 2017 Lincoln MKZ mid-size sedan is also the first production car by the brand to feature the new Lincoln logo mesh grille, seen before only on the Lincoln Continental concept car previewed at the New York Auto Show in March this year. The changes in the front grille started in 2013 with the MKZ – making it suitable to take the brand’s new look into the future. The exclusion of “EcoBoost” (Ford’s name for the turbocharged direct injected engines) is further implication of the desire to re-launch the Lincoln brand with lesser association with Ford.
