The 2016 Honda Civic Coupe joined the 10th generation Civic lineup at the 2015 LA Auto Show. The 2016 Honda Civic sedan and coupe have been re-engineered for enhanced performance and fuel economy – a leap ahead of their 2015 outgoing counterparts.
The latest Civic Coupe has the characteristic 10th generation Civic look including the bold front design, sharp edges and sporty looking wheels – the wheelbase has been extended for a wider stance. Apart from the absence of two additional doors, the coupe differs from the sedan in its steeply raked roofline, compact proportions and unique rear taillight design.
Like its sister sedan, the 2016 Honda Civic Coupe will be available with two fuel-efficient engines. Mid to high trims will feature the first ever turbocharged engine for the coupe – the 1.5 litre DOHC direc-injected TURBO with a peak output of 174 hp and potential EPA ratings of 31/42/35 mpg2. The lower trims get a 2.0 litre i-VTEC engine with 158 hp and potential EPA ratings of 31/41/35 (for CVT). The lower trims can be coupled with CVT or 6-speed manual transmission.
The safety features include the ACE (Advanced Compatibility Body Structure) with improved airbags and seatbelts. Coupled with the new Honda Sensing technologies, the safety facilities make the 2016 Honda Civic Coupe the recipient of a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from IIHS, like its predecessor the 2015 Civic Coupe.
