When you go out to purchase a car at your local car dealership, you are most likely to find cars that fall between $20,000 to $40,000 price tag. The price goes further down if you opt for a secondhand car instead of a brand new one. Of course this scenario excludes some luxurious and really expensive cars. These cars costing in excess of hundreds of thousands of dollars are not meant for everyone, as they are well beyond affordable. Besides, these vehicles are really tough to find as they are produced in limited numbers.
So what makes these cars so expensive? Is there something really special under their hood? Let’s take a look at some of the most expensive cars in the world to find that out. The list of cars you are about to see doesn’t include cars that you’d find on the auction block. Although ridiculously expensive and equally fast, these 10 most expensive cars are street legal. Only cars which are designed specifically for racing have been left out.
Hennessey Venom GT – Price tag $1.2 million
Made in Texas America, this hypercar is another rarer super car. So far, only 29 of these cars are known to be available in the market, each selling for a price of $1.2 million. The Hennessey Venom GT is a 2013 world record holder for going from 0 to 300 km/h ( 186 mph ) in 13.63 seconds, which is unmatched by any vehicle in the recent history. Under the hood of this speed demon is a turbocharged V8 engine from LSX, while the design is eerily similar to that of Lotus Elise. At first glance it looks it belongs to the Lotus family, but it’s really made by another company.
