The Tesla Model X fans and potential owners are in for quite a ride as Tesla continues to release news about its new firmware. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, claims that the Model X is the safest SUV on the road.

As the first Tesla SUV designed from scratch to run on electric motors, the Model X is fully expected to live up to its built-up reputation. The physical design of the car includes features like low centre of gravity and steel-reinforced aluminium pillars, which help to protect occupants in the event of a high speed crash.

The Tesla Model X also features several Active Safety modules including automatic emergency braking and side collision avoidance. The vehicle supports a forward-looking camera, radar and 360 degree sonar sensors which are a part of autonomous steering system. The firmware is capable of OTA (over the air) updates, just like smartphone software, allowing it to continuously upgrade over time. The vehicle’s Autosteer and Autopark systems give it the capability to change lanes automatically and parallel park by itself.

Elon Musk proudly unveiled Tesla’s most advanced car yet at an event held at the company’s factory in the San Francisco Bay Area earlier this week. While he was excited to present the Model Xs advanced capabilities, he was also noted to have remarked that the technology of Tesla Model X was way ahead of its time.

There is still no word from Tesla, when this compact crossover will hit the GCC markets.
