After a series of spy shots and rumours, the Japanese automaker has finally unveiled the 2016 Toyota Prius in an event in Las Vegas, Nevada. The hybrid car has been designed from the ground up using Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA).
Toyota has worked hard on the Prius and it is evident in every aspect of it. The height and width have been increased, on-road dynamics have been boosted using double-wishbone rear suspension and it comes with a new hybrid drivetrain, details of which are not clear right now.
The 2016 Toyota Prius will be 10% more fuel efficient than the previous model, rendering more than 50 mpg which is the best you could get in any non-plugin hybrid. Not only this, reportedly Toyota is also in works to develop an Eco variant to extend even better fuel efficiency.
On the outside, you see a more aggressive exterior with LED headlamps, giving you a choice of 7 colours to select the one according to your personality.
Safety is Toyota’s prime concern in this hybrid hatchback as it employs Toyota Safety Sense suite, which boasts pre-collision braking, lane-departure warning and full-speed dynamic radar cruise control.
The price is not revealed yet, but expect it something around $25K mark with deliveries starting in the start of next year.
