Not to be left behind in the Green Race, NextEV is planning to go head to head with Tesla producing first NextEV supercar to be launched next year.
The success of Tesla’s Model S seems to have started frenzy with auto manufacturers. Mercedes-Benz has gone public with its plans to launch its Model S rival, and there are rumours of Apple going into the electric vehicle business also. And now NextEV is planning to enter the market with a bang, backed by investors including Tencent and Hillhouse Capital.
According to Ricardo Reyes of Tesla, the company is pleased to see the Model S being used as a benchmark for other auto manufacturers. While this may be true, the fact is Tesla will be facing some very tough competition next year with the new entrants in the EV market – all the more reason for Tesla to make strong inroads with the brand new Model X that’s coming out in the market end of this month.
NextEv’s development and strategy team is bringing together a number of professionals from some of the biggest names in the industry including Ford, Tesla, BMW, Volkswagen and others. The company plans a spectacular electric supercar that is expected to make combustion engines bite the dust. Expected to debut in 2016, the NextEV supercar will be able to acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds, using 1,000hp engine.
