Before its official launch on September 8 in Las Vegas, the fourth generation Toyota Prius has been exposed completely undisguised. Taken at two different instances, the first two shots show the car in transit on a cargo plane revealing the car’s front and rear design, while the other image clicked at a photo shoot brings to light the car’s side view.
The snapshots also show that the 2016 Toyota Prius boasts a completely new external shape with certain features resembling to those of other modern Toyota cars. The front bumper, for instance, has flat, narrowly carved air intakes and eccentrically shaped headlights that are sure to attract attention. Some inspiration for the car’s design has also been drawn from the Toyota Mirai, which is evident from the vehicle’s protruding snout and the side profile.
While major specifications of the Prius 2016 are kept under wraps till its grand unveiling, it guarantees 10 percent more fuel efficiency than its previous version with total fuel economy rating at 55 MPG. The car’s hybrid system is based on a nickel-metal-hydride battery pack with an additional lithium-ion battery option available in the higher trim. The 2016 Toyota Prius is also the first ever car model to be created on the Toyota New Global Architecture , a lightweight modular platform.
