The official word from Smart executives is here and they have confirmed that the new 2016 Smart Fortwo convertible will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The two variants of the car, known as, the Fortwo and Forfour are already up for sale in the European markets, while in USA, they will be available at the dealerships later next month.
The CEO and director of Smart Automobile, Dr. Annette Winkler told that the new Brabus Fortwo is not releasing in US as of now and will make its way into the markets next year. However, a “Brabus Tailor Made program” is something new from the automaker which we will be hearing about soon in the coming days.
The US market variant of the 2016 Smart Fortwo will most probably carry a 0.9-litre petrol engine paired with either a five-speed manual or a new six-speed dual-clutch gearbox producing around 89 horsepower and 100 pound-feet of torque.
Talking about the exterior design, it features a bigger front grille and headlamps compared to the previous models, while the interior has been enhanced to offer more space and updated safety specs.
The automaker is also planning to develop an electric vehicle. which is expected to be launched in 2017.
