The Daihatsu FX compact crossover concept has been introduced at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. The upcoming vehicle will compete with the big players in the segment like Honda HR-V and Mazda CX-3.

Daihatsu, the subsidiary car manufacturing company of Toyota, is trying to create its own identity by making a smart, aerodynamic and low fuel consuming crossover, bearing a Daihatsu badge on the front grille.

On the outside, the exterior design should get full credit of artistic manifestation, featuring aesthetically sketched front facade and rear fascia, however some of the external features may not survive the final revision before the production blueprint is passed out to the assembly lines.

The all-new FX concept crossover is housing a 1.2 litre engine for foreign markets, but a more powerful variant might be introduced if it comes to United States. The declassified features usually not seen in this category include LED headlights, daytime running lights and panoramic roof. Other than this, there is no official word from the company on further specifications.

Currently, the Toyota RAV4 is the smallest crossover from the Japanese automaker, which has shown a formidable success on the sales sheet. When the Daihatsu FX compact crossover concept will finally arrive at the dealerships, it will either beat the market of RAV4 or surrender altogether, because two swords cannot be accommodated in a single sheath.
