The all-new 2017 Mazda CX-9 was caught in action during an outtake in the Californian mountain side. The prototype was covered in a light pattern disguise displaying the next generation Mazda crossover in a full shape.
The footages were taken by a Youtube user, Carspotter Jeroen, revealing the basic details of the vehicle, including Kodo styling, and a new five-sided grille which forms into blades as they are continuous with the swept-back headlights. The body offers a sustainable aerodynamic solution for road drive and off-roading, while contours of the fenders and hatchback portion accentuate Mazda 3 and Mazda 6 like appearance. Moreover, the taillights present a CX-5’s tumblehome outlining when observed from the back.
Though the clip of the latest 2017 Mazda CX-9 didn’t give us a glimpse into the cabin space, but it is anticipated to contain 3 row seating with a refined dash and upholstery.
Reportedly, the stunning crossover will be powered by a 2.5 litre turbocharged SkyActiv 4 cylinder engine, the latest in the Mazda factories, which in time will find its way into other models as well, promising better fuel efficiency, lighter weight and dynamic handling
The current CX9 is based on global CD3 platform borrowed from Lincoln MKZ and Ford Fusion, however with the advent of the 2017 Mazda CX-9, introducing SkyActiv technology, the ties between Mazda and Ford will finally get loose.
