The sales stats for the first six months of 2015 are here and guess what? Toyota is on number two with a total of 5.02 million cars sold, while the German automaker Volkswagen has secured the first place with a total number of 5.04 million vehicles sold between January and June.
Although Volkswagen originally thought to top the sales chart by 2018, but the tremendous market position of the company in China helped them achieve their target quite early. However, this achievement of Volkswagen does not damage the position of Toyota in the automotive industry. It is and has remained the most profitable company with a profit margin of 10.1% last year as compared to Volkswagen which had a profit margin of 6.3%.
Congratulating Volkswagen on its achievement, Toyota’s spokesperson made a comment saying that their main aim is customer satisfaction and not being the largest automaker of the world.
General Motors ranks at number 3, but its official stats are not released yet.
