Walmart and Evenflo are joining hands to create smart infant car seats, which will alert drivers in case they leave the baby in the car.

The modern baby seats are as safe as they can be, but what can we do about forgetful parents who leave their toddlers in the burning car under the sun suffocating them to death. According to a case study by KidsAndCars.org, around 38 children lose their lives every year due to hot cars and about half of these cases involve forgetfulness on the part of parents. Thanks to Walmart and Evenflo who teamed up to prevent these gruesome accidents.

The new car seat will trigger an alarm if seat-belt of the infant safety seat is not buckled. Similarly, there will be a series of sounds if the child is still fastened after you stop the engine, indicating that the child is alone in the car. The new car seats called Evenflo Advanced Embrace with SensorSafe will function through a wireless device that connects the vehicle’s on-board diagnostic port and relays signals to the chest clip that embraces the baby to the seat. The best thing about this system is that it won’t require Bluetooth or even smartphone.

This new technology is truly a gift to avoid such disastrous and painful incidences, and for the price of just $149.88, every parent can buy one for their kid. The product will arrive at Wallmart stores this August.
