General Motors has previewed its GMC Sierra facelift, arriving for the 2016 model year. The company suggests exterior styling has been the top priority for Sierra buyers, so the pickup has received several new key design elements aimed at further improving its looks.
The front end has been revised with new fascias and grilles for every trim level, each featuring C-shape LED daytime running lights and LED headlights. Bumpers have been slightly restyled, with horizontal LED fog lights replacing the round units from the outgoing model. Completing the new lighting theme, redesigned LED taillights match the C-shape DRLs.
GM earlier this week introduced an updated 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. Aside from fresh exterior styling, the Sierra’s stablemate also added an eight-speed automatic transmission for its 5.3-liter V8. The same gearbox option will presumably make its way to the Sierra. It had previously been available only with the 6.2-liter V8 powerplant for both pickups.
Both the Sierra and Silverado will bring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for 2016. The company has also hinted at new safety technologies and other “customer-focused technologies,” however full details are currently being withheld.
The new Sierra is expected to arrive in showrooms sometime in the fourth quarter of the year.
