Volkswagen has revealed plans of developing a three wheel electric scooter which is expected to rival the likes of Segway scooter by facilitating people in making their way to their ultimate destination once they have left their car or the train.
Surprisingly, the company’s CEO Martin Winterkorn unveiled this new venture only some time after ex-board member Ferdinand Piech reproached the company for lack of innovation. The project will be backed by the worker council’s “innovation fund.”
The miniature concept, white and grey scooter weighs around 24 pounds, has an electric range of 12 miles, and its design has been inspired from the Volkswagen XL1. Moreover, the scooter can be folded for convenient storage when not in use.
Aimed at providing personal mobility to take you the ‘last mile’, the scooter is slated to be unveiled in the market by mid-2016 and will cost less than 1,000 Euros. Currently, the German manufacturer has not revealed any plans of launching their latest innovation in the UAE.
